The Future of Learning: A Call to Action on Study Spaces

No space in the library, and all student areas are full? One thing is clear: the university doesn’t have enough study spaces! During exam periods, libraries are packed, seminar rooms are overflowing, and group work areas are impossible to find. Even if you do manage to grab a spot, it doesn’t mean the space is suitable for studying. Many areas lack power outlets, noise is a constant issue even in library sections, and there simply isn’t enough room for group work.

In 2025, we aim to push for a significant expansion of study spaces across the university. We want to see learning spaces created at all university locations. For instance, temporary solutions like modular container buildings at suitable sites could provide the much needed space. These should be equipped with areas for quiet study, group work, and, most importantly, modern technical infrastructure fit for today’s needs.

However, temporary solutions like containers are not a long-term fix, and we cannot stop there. We need to think ahead. That’s why we want to work closely with the university to develop study space concepts for future campus buildings. The demand for study spaces can only truly be met if we proactively prioritize these needs during the planning stages of new facilities.
